Beyond the racing action, RED MILLS Day has evolved into a true celebration of personal style, making it a standout event in the calendar and a perfect mid-winter occasion to gather with friends, family and fellow racegoers.

RED MILLS Style Awards and Guest Judges

The RED MILLS Style Awards have become one of the most anticipated elements of the day, offering racegoers the opportunity to showcase their individuality through considered winter race wear. This year, influencer, television presenter and podcaster James Kavanagh joins the event as guest judge. Known for his distinctive fashion sense and influential presence across Irish media, James brings a contemporary and confident perspective to the judging panel.

“I am so excited to be judging Best-Dressed at RED MILLS Day February 14th, I can’t wait to see you there,” James said ahead of the event.

James will be judging alongside renowned fashion stylist and Carlow native Marietta Doran, with both judges placing emphasis on looks that balance style with practicality for the season. Awards will be presented for Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman, and those wishing to take part are encouraged to pre-register for the Best-Dressed competition ahead of race day

A Valentine’s Day Race Meeting with a Style Twist

With RED MILLS Day falling on Valentine’s Day this year, the event offers an added reason to celebrate, particularly for couples attending together. The introduction of the Best-Dressed Couple award invites stylish duos to coordinate their looks and make a memorable impression, with an exciting prize awaiting the winning pair on the day.

The Valentine’s Day setting adds a sense of occasion throughout the race meeting, from the style competition to the social atmosphere across the course. Racegoers can also enjoy browsing the RED MILLS pop-up shop on the day, offering a curated edit of premium race wear and accessories, perfect for adding a finishing touch to a race day look or treating someone special.

RED MILLS Day Style Inspiration as Seen on RTÉ Today

In the lead-up to this year’s event, Connolly’s RED MILLS Store was featured on the RTÉ Today Show, offering a preview of race day style inspiration designed specifically for Irish winter conditions. Styled by Marietta Doran, the segment highlighted outfits that balance elegance with comfort, making them ideal for outdoor racing in colder and changeable weather.

Modelled by Fam, Paula and Elvira, the looks focused on thoughtful layering, rich textures and versatile silhouettes. Tweed, suede and luxurious outerwear featured prominently, demonstrating how practical pieces can still deliver a polished and race-ready finish. A selection of the outfits showcased on the RTÉ Today Show can now be explored online through the outfits as seen on the RTÉ Today Show

Race Day Style Inspiration for the Season Ahead

Winter racing presents a unique opportunity to embrace elevated cold-weather dressing, and RED MILLS Day sets the tone for the season ahead. Layering remains essential, allowing racegoers to adapt throughout the day while maintaining a refined appearance. Statement outerwear forms the foundation of many winter race day outfits, paired with classic boots suited to softer ground conditions.

Neutral colour palettes, timeless tailoring and quality fabrics continue to define race wear for the colder months. These principles extend beyond a single event, with many of the pieces suited to multiple occasions throughout the season. A dedicated edit within the racing style collection offers further inspiration for building a winter race day wardrobe that feels both practical and considered.
