With a height of 30 mm the port is fully permissible under German equestrian sport regulations. This mouthpiece is thus eminently suited to horses that do not tolerate traditionally shaped bits due to the pressure on the tongue and react by head-shaking and the like.

The Kimblewick bit is an effective combination of a lever effect on the horse‘s lower jaw, pressure on the poll and change of position inside the horse‘s mouth.
