Inspiration Behind The Product

The Story

As a company focused on the horses’ wellbeing, they thought it was only right to look at the mental and nutritional wellbeing of our equine friends too!

Rather than just making 'a fibre block' suitable for all horses, including those prone to laminitis, Equilibrium wanted to take it a bit further. With that the Munch Range was born, as a healthy snack with added benefits!

FAQ

Can Munch fibre blocks be fed before riding?

Yes you can feed it just before riding. The rate of intake of Munch is relatively slow and so the volumes entering the digestive tract will be relatively low too.

a. The first issue with feeding a large meal before exercise is that it diverts blood flow from the extremities (i.e. muscles) to digestive tract. The little and often mode of eating of Munch means that this is not an issue.

b. A second issue is that large meals bind a lot of water which adds to the weight a horse is carrying, again the relatively low intake means that this is not an issue either.

Once opened how long does Munch keep fresh?

Munch will keep for up to a week after opening but should be stored in a cool dry place. Uncovered Munch will absorb moisture from the atmosphere and will soften and expand. If you have soaked munch it does need to be fed straight away.

Can Munch Blocks be soaked?

Yes, an individual Munch fibre block will soften and fluff up so that horses with poor dentition can easily bite into it. You can use warm water for to soak it for a treat in winter. Ensure soaked munch is fed immediately to prevent mould developing.

About Equilibrium

It all started when Timmy started frantically headshaking during ridden work shortly after he turned 5 years old. This lead to his owner, Margaret Donnelly, designing the Net Relief Muzzle Net to help him. Word got out about the Muzzle Net and how it helped Timmy and many other horses. Horse & Hound featured it and the phones started to go mad! Who would have thought one person trying to solve a problem with their horse could have such a large impact. From then on, Margaret realised she actually had lots of product ideas – Timmy was a source of inspiration! Fast forward 25 years and Equilibrium are still here with their core message of ‘Making a difference to horses’ lives.
